  • 21st Century Scholars Activity Submission Deadline Approaches on June 30

The 21st Century Scholars program offers Indiana high school students the unique opportunity to work towards earning a free college education at an Indiana institution during their time in high school. The program is open to students who live and go to school in Indiana and whose parents meet certain income requirements. However, there is some work to be done on the students’ end.

Students who wish to become 21st Century Scholars are required to remain drug-free and crime-free throughout their time in high school and college. If this is at all violated, the scholarship may be revoked. Students also pledge to earn a Core 40 diploma, maintain a certain GPA, and graduate on time.

Additionally, students must complete the Scholar Success Program with 21st Century. This program requires that certain modules and accomplishments be completed and attained each year of high school. The chart with the required activities is available on the 21st Century website.

The activities correspond appropriately with where a student should be in their college search and preparation process. For example, high school freshmen involved in the program are asked to create a graduation plan and participate in extracurricular activities (among other things), while seniors are required to submit a college application and file their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students have until June 30 to complete and submit their requirements for each year. Completion can only be verified if the activities are properly entered into the student’s 21st Century ScholarTrack account.

Failure to complete and submit all the required activities for the year by June 30 could result in the loss of scholarship money. Students who are part of the program are urged to log on to ScholarTrack and ensure that they have completed all necessary documentation as soon as possible.
