With multiple locations throughout Northwest Indiana, Health Visions Midwest provides invaluable services to local families by utilizing nontraditional methods. The program employs the assistance of a “Family Support Specialist” (FSS), who is responsible for reaching out to families in need by making contact with them as they go about their daily lives at the grocery store, the beauty salon or at local churches. This method of outreach seeks to connect the FSS with families in need who may not otherwise be in search of services. The overall goal of the program is to train families to become self-sufficient in the face of crises and link them to a continuum of service providers to aid them along the way.
