Traci Anderson wants to make a difference. She has known this since she was a student at Bishop Noll Institute. The first step she took towards this goal was applying for the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) scholarship program.

Traci received a renewable FEC scholarship in the amount of $2,500. This enabled her to attend Indiana Wesleyan University.

“The impact of my FEC scholarship has made a tremendous difference by giving me the additional incentive to push forward to achieve my goals,” said Traci.

She plans to help others by pursuing a career in nursing and is currently working on obtaining her BSN. Traci hopes to stay at Indiana Wesleyan to complete her Master of Science degree in nursing, as well.

Applying for scholarships is a very important step in the college search process that high school students can get started on as early as their sophomore year. Nothing about college today is cheap so every little bit of financial assistance can help.

One great place to find local scholarships is the FEC Scholarship, College and Career Resource Fair taking place on January 20, 2017. The fair will last from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will feature over 40 scholarship organizations, colleges and companies for high school juniors and seniors to network with.
