Anthony Castel attends the University of Indianapolis. He graduated from The Hammond Academy of Science and Technology and when he heard his older cousin received a Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) scholarship, he knew he had to apply as well.

The $5,000 scholarship he received allows Anthony to focus on his major, Criminal Justice, instead of finances. With a minor in CSI, he hopes to graduate and work in the forensic field with the Indiana Crime Lab and aid the police department.

Receiving the FEC scholarship impacted Anthony. He is especially glad he can represent East Chicago while attending school in Indianapolis and “show how strong the area is.”

“As I move forward with my education I always keep in mind how blessed I was to come from such a great city like East Chicago and how I can be an embodiment of the skills and ambitions [of the city].”
