On Friday, August 10, the Alternatives to Bridging the Gap program performed their 4th annual theatrical production symbolizing the end of their summer school. 30 students performed the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar” in front of almost 75 parents and church and community members.

The children who attended the eight-week summer school program committed themselves to reenacting the end of Jesus’ life. The musical is full of beautiful and emotional songs, and the kids put on a wonderful stage production.

In addition to rehearsing, the students participated in half days of classes in reading, writing and math. Pre and post-test scores showed a 2.4% growth in reading and a 2.8% growth in math, which has been the typical degree of success that the summer school program had demonstrated.
