Each year, the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) awards various types of grants to local programs that benefit the people of East Chicago. One type of FEC grant, is the collaboration grant.

Collaboration grants are issued to programs created by a collaboration of three or more community organizations. The programs must contribute to the well-being of the East Chicago community.

One of the programs receiving an FEC collaboration grant this year is ECHO Middle School Matters. This program was created to help East Chicago middle school students practice reading and math skills through after school activities. This year, the program received $65,000 from FEC.
