The Educational Talent Search (ETS) program at Purdue Calumet assists Hammond and East Chicago middle and high school students prepare for post-secondary education by helping both student and parents understand the college enrollment process. Applicants to the program must demonstrate need for assistance as well as desire and dedication to obtain a post-secondary education. Once a students is admitted to the ETS program, they have access to all ETS services for no charge.
The program has several services available including academic, financial, career and personal counseling. ETS provides career exploration and aptitude assessments. They can assist in completing college admissions and financial aid applications, preparing for college entrance exams, and providing exposure to college campuses.
ETS also works to service its students is through summer enrichment programs. ETS not only offers its own programs at Purdue Calumet but also partners with summer programs at many other colleges and universities to give students the opportunity to have many different athletic, educational and artistic experiences.
Furthermore, ETS partners with local organizations that offer year-round academic resources to students. These resources include tutoring, homework assistance and college preparatory curriculum among others. Important to many parents and students looking at college for the first time, the program also assists students and parents with the completion of FAFSA documents and gets them connected with financial aid organizations.
