Preparing for the SAT and ACT tests is usually a nerve-wracking experience. The anxiety of trying to absorb information and not let it leak out before the test is probably something every test taker has felt.
Below are some tips to help with your preparation. However, the number one bit of advice is to give yourself plenty of time (three months or so) to prepare! Tests are offered every few months.
Tips to help you prepare for the SAT and ACT
- Register! SAT Online Registration or ACT Online Registration
- Take practice tests. Taking a timed practice test will help you keep track of your progress and help you learn how to pace yourself.
- Practice using your calculator! Not only are calculators allowed during the test, but to ace the math section, a calculator is a must. Practice using it beforehand, so you know how to enter tricky equations. Don’t forget to bring it!
- Know when to guess or skip a question. If you don’t know the answer, skip it and move on. If you can eliminate one or two of the multiple choice answer options, take a guess.
