Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) will host a scholarship and career fair at East Chicago Central High School on January 20th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
One of the vendors that will be present at the fair is newly developed Purdue Polytechnic Indianapolis, a school that will link high school to the first two years of postsecondary education with a curriculum that revolves around STEM – science, technology, engineering and math.
USA Funds was awarded a planning grant to make the new school possible. The learning experience will be based off a rigorous curriculum that will be different from any other. The idea of Polytechnic is that it will embrace the new innovative learning experiences that companies are seeking from potential employees. The new school recognizes the ever-changing technology industry and is creating a student experience that helps prepare for those changes.
Students at Purdue Polytechnic must be able to display mastery in a defined high-tech pathway. The first two years will focus on the best practices in science, technology, engineering and math. After this, students will have the potential to earn college credits and industry credentials during their last two years of high school.
