The job description of a friend usually entails someone who is trustworthy and reliable. When learning from a friend of the family about the scholarship opportunities at Foundations of East Chicago (FEC), scholarship recipient Traci Anderson did not hesitate to apply.

By living in the East Chicago community, Anderson was eligible to apply for several scholarships offered at FEC. As a Bishop Noll Institute high school graduate, Anderson is familiar with the many expenses that come with education.

Anderson currently attends Indiana Wesleyan University where she is pursuing a bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) and eventually a master in nursing (MSN).

“The impact of my FEC scholarship has made a tremendous difference by giving me the additional incentive to push forward to achieve my goals,” Anderson said. “Knowing that an organization is there to help accomplish my goals is very satisfying.”

Anderson said that she encourages younger high school students who are thinking about applying for FEC scholarship to remain focused and positive.

While continuing to trek through her college career, Anderson has a message for FEC.

“You are much appreciated and have truly made a difference in our community and in the lives of many students in East Chicago,” Anderson said.

FEC offers many different scholarship opportunities such as the renewable scholarship Anderson received. To gain more information regarding scholarships and other opportunities, visit foundationsec.org.
