Education & Outreach are staples of Foundation of East Chicago’s mission. As a part of this mission, FEC sponsors UNIVERSO, a new after-school arts program in East Chicago. This initiative involves seven different organizations in the Northwest Indiana region, including the South Shore Orchestra. Collaborating organizations include:

- -South Shore Orchestra Scholarship
Foundations of East Chicago awards an annual $2,500 scholarship to dedicated, college-bound high school seniors. In order to be considered for the scholarship, students must demonstrate their musicianship, audition before a panel of judges, and submit a personal statement.
