Patrick Sabaitis, an East Chicago native and former gang recruiter, started the Sabaitis Educational Institution and the Reclaim Our Kids program as a method of saving kids from domestic terrorism known as gang violence. The program, which receives funding from the Foundations of East Chicago, uses the intimate knowledge of Sabaitis and other former gang members to create presentations and mentorship activities that counter the feelings of loneliness and worthlessness in kids that gang recruiters prey on.
