So many of Ruben Ramos’ dreams all happened at once. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, he was hired as a 7th grade Social Studies teacher at Block Junior High in East Chicago, was planning a wedding and just moved into a new house with his wife. At the same time all of this was happening, he also began taking classes to get his master’s degree in education as well as his teaching license.
Ruben knew that a scholarship from Foundations of East Chicago could allow him to continue his educational dreams. As master classes are more expensive, the scholarship could relieve the financial stress of pursuing his degree while making plans for his personal life and working full time.
“It has been a dream to teach in East Chicago in the same school that I attended,” Ruben said. “I want to keep living this dream for as long as I can.”
