Would you consider yourself to be a healthy person? Are you active? How do you feel about yourself, physically and emotionally?
It’s not easy to become healthy. It takes a lot of work, but it’s worth it! Healthy East Chicago, Inc. wants to help; that’s why they applied for a grant from the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC).
This free program is designed to educate the residents of East Chicago on how to live a healthier life. The goal of the East Chicago Fitness Center is to address and impact the overall health of participants and to enhance their quality of life in a positive way. Physical exercise as well as learning a healthier way of living is introduced into the participants’ daily routine. Their hope is that it will build self-esteem, as well as emotional, physical and mental stability.
The program is located at East Chicago Central High School’s Fitness Center at 1100 W. Columbus Drive in East Chicago. The fitness center is open Monday-Friday from 2:30 pm to 8:30 pm. During this time instructors are available to work with students and the public.
