On any given day, there are children in Northwest Indiana who find themselves in crisis. If it weren’t for the unending work of the St. Joseph’s Carmelite Home in East Chicago, there would be even more children going without help.
The Carmelite Home currently houses 88 children who do not have safe, stable homes of their own. The Sisters provide these children with shelter, food, clothing, medical care, tutoring, life lessons, fun activities and love. However, all of these services come at a price. While the Carmelite Home receives some money from the state, it is nowhere near enough to continue to provide quality care to so many needy children.
This is why donors and grant-writing organizations are so important. The home would not be able to continue its mission if it weren’t for the financial assistance of several local companies and organizations that make regular contributions to benefit the children.
