Back in January, the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) partnered with the School City of East Chicago to bring the students of the city the first ever Scholarship, College and Career Resource Fair. Over 50 college, scholarship and career vendors were present, and over 1,200 Northwest Indiana high school students attended the fair.
“We decided it was time to do a little more and give our students the resources they need to make better choices,” explains FEC Executive Director Rosa Peña about FEC’s decision to hold the event.
Students from nine local high schools had the opportunity to speak with prospective employers, members of the military and representatives from various colleges and universities. Many left the fair with pamphlets in hand and having given their email addresses to receive additional information. See for yourself how students, employers and college representatives alike felt about the fair’s inaugural event with the following video!
