A graduate of East Chicago Central High School, Dae’Shaun Walden knew he wanted to attend college. With help from the FEC, he now attends Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. His major is Electrical Engineering Technology.
“I learned about the FEC by my high school counselors and actual recruits of FEC making trips to our high school to speak upon FEC,” Dae’Shaun said. “I applied for the FEC scholarship, not only because of financial need, but to give myself an opportunity to take my education to the next level.”
With his $2,000 scholarship, he is able to pay for a portion of his college tuition. He plans on graduating with his bachelor’s degree in four to five years.
“I would tell younger high school students who are thinking about applying for the FEC scholarships, to apply because college is expensive and these scholarships can provide financial help.”
