Created in 1982, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana serves thousands of people throughout Lake and Porter counties.

 

More than 104,000 individuals in these areas are food insecure and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana gives hope to these individuals through a number of hunger relief programs.

 

Annually, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana serves approximately 4.2 million meals and weekly, approximately five thousand individuals are served.

 

For the people of East Chicago, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has become an invaluable resource.

 

Since 2009, the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana has been battling hunger in East Chicago thanks in part due to grants awarded by Foundations of East Chicago.

 

The goals of the Food Bank are to strengthen the capacity of food pantries in East Chicago and to maximize the food resources of food pantries in East Chicago in order to provide hunger relief.
