East Chicago’s Xel-Ha Escuala de Danza offers many free Mexican folkloric and cultural workshops to children in the community at the Xel-Ha dance studio located at 711 West Chicago Avenue.
The dance troupe is committed to promoting and preserving Mexican culture through dance. In March of 2009, all 40 members of Xel-Ha Escuala de Danza were able to attend the Chicago premiere of the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico thanks to a special grant provided by Foundations of East Chicago.
