It was always a “huge dream” of hers to go to college. With the help from the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC), Sydnie Roberson is now living that dream.

She was encouraged by Tereka Boone, Education Program Director for the FEC, and others to apply for the scholarship. Sydnie felt that with her grades and all the people influencing and believing in her, she had what it took to become a scholarship recipient.

And she was right.

Sydnie received a $4,000 scholarship and now attends Purdue University Northwest. Her major is in Health Studies, and she hopes to become a Physical Therapist.

She encourages everyone with a dream of going to college to apply for the scholarship. She felt that the FEC board members treated her like “family,” and the scholarship has been “nothing but a blessing” to her plans.
