The 2018 WOW Fest on Sunday, August 12 was the 10th anniversary of the event. Funding, services, and supplies for the WOW Fest come from many local organizations including the Foundations of East Chicago (FEC).
The festival was held at Jeorse Park at the East Chicago Marina, and it was a beautiful day for all to enjoy. Kids had fun playing in the popular “Kids Fun Zone,” and everyone enjoyed free food.
The festival attendees were entertained by various local and national musicians, including Totally 4 Him, Grammy-nominated gospel artist Vashawn Mitchell and Grammy award winning gospel legend Richard Smallwood.
Possibly the most important service at the festival was free immunization shots and health screening. A wide array of vendors including financial institutions, retail businesses, social service agencies and health serving agencies were available to help East Chicago and other local residents receive information and assistance.
Giveaways included free book bags filled with school supplies, just in time for the upcoming school year. Haircuts were available free of charge.
