The Foundations of East Chicago (FEC) has been awarding grants to community nonprofits for 21 years with the mission of “supporting local schools, churches, municipal agencies, and nonprofit organizations that work to improve the quality of life in East Chicago.” Each year, the organization’s General Operating grants program strives to make a greater impact for East Chicagoans.

FEC recently announced the organizations that will be receiving a total of $373,830 in General Operating grants for 2018. These recipients were chosen because they are recognized 501(c)3 organizations in good standing with the IRS and FEC and have demonstrated a budget shortfall. General Operating grants are to be used for operating costs outside of salaries as the organizations detailed in their applications. Additionally, the organizations must directly serve the community of East Chicago.
