Former Foundations of East Chicago scholarship recipient AhNonda Bates, who received her awards from 2000 – 2006 utilized her educational opportunities to their full potential as she now is a clinical supervisor for a community based treatment team in Indianapolis.
She said there is no greater value than attending college and understanding how you can contribute. She said this would not have been possible without the assistance of FEC.
“Going to college will allow you the opportunity to make a better life for yourself and your family,” AhNonda said. “You will grow in so many positive ways.”
Every day, AhNonda manages a team that works with clients in the community with severe mental illness, homelessness and addiction issues. She is also an adjunct professor at two universities teaching Intro to Addictions, Crisis Intervention Strategies and Intro to Psychology courses.
“I would strongly encourage students to apply because going to college is step in a positive direction for your future,” she said.
