Summer is a great time for festivals and outdoor events but what about the rest of the year? Girls on the Run of Northwest Indiana hosts three events for participants and community members each year: one in the spring, summer and fall.
Girls on the Run of NWI is the local branch of an international organization that helps girls with their self-image and confidence through fun, outdoor activities. Hosting events throughout the year helps the girls to remain engaged with the organization even once the summer is over. Check out the following list of Girls on the Run of NWI’s annual events.
-Girls on the Run Spring 5k: Girls completing the spring season of Girls on the Run participate in the Spring 5k. Each girl runs with her running buddy and participates in the race theme through wacky outfits, games and activities.
-Lunafest: Lunafest is a summer film festival that highlights women filmmakers. The goal of the festival is to bring women together in their communities to raise awareness about women’s health issues. Funds from this event go to Girls on the Run of NWI and the Breast Cancer Fund.
-Girls on the Run Fall 5k: This event is the culmination of the fall session of Girls on the Run of NWI. As with the spring 5k, participants and community members are welcome to race and enjoy the day.
